Performance Enhancement

Nobody goes undefeated all the time. If you can pick up after a crushing defeat, and go on the win again, you are going to be a champion someday. – Wilma Rudolph

Many of our clients are not injured. They just want to be better at what they do.

There are many ways to improve performance.
We assess the individual strength, flexibility, coordination and proprioception and then look at these against biomechanical and functional requirements for their sport. On a base level improving flexibility, core and rotational stability is key. Then functional requirements against personal ability shows areas of potential weakness that can be addressed to improve health and performance.

Why might I want performance enhancement?

For example…

1. Weak gluteals mean that the hamstrings overwork as the primary hip extensor rather than the secondary extensor. This increases tightness and produces less strength when running. Strengthening the core and gluteals and lengthening hamstrings will reduce the risk of injury, increase power and reduce energy requirements – allowing less fatigue.

2. If a golfer has reduced thoracic rotation, there will be less wind-up and therefore less power in the swing – they will often push through using the shoulder, garnering less power and putting themselves at risk of shoulder issues. Improving thoracic rotation allows a full wind-up and the swing power to travel through the hips and torso. Reaching the end of the follow-through of the swing smoothly maximises the accuracy and power of the shot without causing discomfort.

If you are not injured but desire to IMPROVE YOUR PERFORMANCE, give us a ring. If you are willing to put in the work, we can show you how to improve! You can book online specifically for performance enhancement assessment.
